Three years ago, The Old Station welcomed its very first guests as a holiday let. As we reach this milestone, it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on how far we’ve come — and the journey that brought us here.
From Renovation to Retreat
When we first began renovating the station, the final outcome wasn’t always clear. There were moments filled with excitement and progress, alongside times of uncertainty and doubt. Old buildings demand patience, belief and care — and this one was no exception.
What kept us moving forward was learning to trust ourselves and the process. Piece by piece, everything began to fall into place. Not always quickly, and not always as planned, but always in a way that felt right.
How Far We’ve Come
The renovation images in this video capture those early days — the work in progress, the potential, and the vision slowly taking shape. Looking back, they are a powerful reminder of just how far The Old Station has come.
Today, it’s a place designed for slowing down. A space for quiet mornings, fresh Norfolk air, long walks, and time to properly switch off. It has become a retreat shaped by thought, intention and a deep connection to its surroundings. Guests come here to enjoy walks along the Norfolk Coast, visits to nearby beaches, stately homes and the wide open landscapes that make this part of North West Norfolk so special.
Trusting the Timing
One of the biggest lessons from the past three years has been the importance of trusting the journey – and trusting the timing. Meaningful places aren’t rushed. They evolve, settle and grow into themselves.
We’re grateful we kept believing, even when the path wasn’t always clear. Grateful we stayed patient. And grateful we allowed The Old Station to become what it was meant to be.
Looking Ahead
As we move into our fourth year, we carry those lessons with us – to keep believing, keep going, and continue caring deeply about the place we’ve created and the guests who stay here.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the story so far. We’re incredibly proud of how far The Old Station has come, and excited for what’s still to unfold.
