Sustainability & Regenerative Tourism at The Old Station
At The Old Station in Snettisham, we believe hospitality should give back more than it takes. As caretakers of this beautifully restored railway station, we are committed to operating in a way that supports our local community, protects the environment, and celebrates the heritage of Norfolk.

We’re at the beginning of our journey into regenerative tourism — a form of travel that leaves a place better than it was before. We are following the PLANT Framework, which guides destinations through five key stages:
Prepare | Learn | Act | Nurture | Transform
Currently, we are in the Prepare and Learn phases — taking time to understand our impact, listen to our community, and lay strong roots for change.
Here’s what we’re doing so far:
- Sourcing energy from renewable providers where possible
- Supporting local businesses and trades
- Reducing waste and single-use items in our guest experience
- Using sustainable and sensitive materials in restoration work
- Sharing local knowledge and heritage with every stay
We know we’re not perfect, but we’re committed to learning and growing.
Thank you for supporting a stay that’s not just memorable — but meaningful.
