A Sea of Red: Poppy Fields in Full Bloom in and around Snettisham

This year, the Norfolk countryside has outdone itself. Field after field is ablaze with poppies — a truly staggering sight that has taken our breath away.

From the moment the first buds opened, it was clear this would be a special season. The sheer scale and beauty of the blooms have drawn visitors, photographers, and nature lovers from far and wide. Whether seen from the roadside or during a peaceful countryside walk, the vibrant red swathes rolling across the landscape are unforgettable.

We’ve captured just a glimpse in this short video — but nothing compares to seeing it for yourself. The poppies are a powerful reminder of nature’s ability to surprise and delight, and this year has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Wherever you look, there’s colour, life, and that magical hush that seems to fall over a field in bloom.

  2. are there still poppies now in july?

    1. Hello Gemma. The poppies have been absolutely stunning this year but sadly over the course of the last few weeks they have now disappeared

I should have mentioned that although the fields of poppies are no longer around, the lavender fields at Heacham are spectacular
